Introduction to Scaffolding DOL (local) 2 Days
This course is designed to provide delegates with a basic knowledge of the principles of scaffolding whilst working on a vessel or offshore platform.
Delegates will gain a basic level of understanding and awareness of the hazards encountered when working on offshore installations, and of the safety regime and safety management systems in place to control and mitigate those hazards.
The course is a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training programme content.

- Responsibilities/Design Approvals
- Scaffold Types and Selection
- Scaffold Foundation and Support
- Scaffold Erection and Bracing
- Scaffold Access
- Scaffold Work Platforms
- Scaffold Stability
- Use and Maintenance
- Working at Height
- (SA OHS Act & SANS Guidance)
Delegates must be at least 16 years of age.
All personnel employed on an offshore and vessels installation who are involved with the erection of scaffolding
A Project Maritime Training certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course.
Every four years.
Held at Project Maritime Training, Saldanha Bay, South Africa.
Items to bring
Delegates must present photographic ID at the start of the course. Accepted forms are government issued photographic identification, eg passport or identity document
Recognised in Date Medical Certificate
All delegates will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.
