SHIPS CAPTAIN MEDICAL REFRESHER (STCW 95 A-VI/4-2)


The master, and any other person in charge of the medical care, on a UK flagged
vessel is required to undertake refresher training in medical care at least every five years
in accordance with:
  • The Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) Regulations 1997 and Part 6 of the MCA Training and Certifications Guidance – MGN 96 (M)
  • This course is a refresher to update existing skills and knowledge.
  • Candidates must be conversant with current first aid practice before starting the course and are strongly advised to undertake revision of first aid, theory and practice.
  • Reading to refresh medical care knowledge prior to course commencement is strongly recommended.
